My double bitted axes have grown out of the hatchets, they aren't based on any particular period. The same care goes into the forging and tempering as I do for the hatchets. These axes are 4 piece construction, and hafted with hickory or ash. I don't use a set pattern for my doublebitted axes so the size and shape is subject to the whim of the Smith.

They generally are about 11 inches across from edge to edge and length of the blade can vary from 4 to 5 inches the handle is about 20 to 24 inches long depending on what you want and what I like for the balance of the axe.
